Companies are re-hiring civil engineers, but the boss talks about "unworthy wages" and recalls that it is necessary to create jobs, but not at any cost

Engineering is back in fashion. It is the staff member of the Order of Engineers, Carlos Mineiro Aires, who raises the flag. The investment of multinational companies in Portugal has allowed to add on national soil numerous centers of competences, industrial and technological projects and even commercial platforms, creating with them more employment and leveraging the demand of engineers. The increase in contracting is transversal to almost all the specialties of engineering, but there is a - Civil Engineering - that brings greater challenges. After years of crisis has brought thousands of civil engineers out of the country and hundreds of students from national university banks pushing them (for lack of employment prospects) to courses in other areas, civil engineering is again giving jobs and even there are already those who talk about hiring difficulties and lack of civil engineers in the market. The bastonario guarantees that it is all a question of perspective and of salaries. "The country still has enough civil engineers for its needs, they are not available to work for wages that are more than low, they are unworthy," he accuses.
