IMOnews - Energy efficiency reduces IMI in Lisbon

Good energy performance of real estate rewarded with reduction of IMI rate by 15%. Benefit extends to buildings that take advantage of treated or stormwater. The Lisbon City Council has approved for 2018 the reinforcement of tax benefits for urban buildings that increase their energy performance by two levels or have energy efficiency class A or higher.

Currently, the municipality already foresees a reduction of 10% of the Municipal Property Tax (IMI) rate for five years, applicable to urban buildings with energy efficiency equal or superior to A, or whose energy efficiency becomes higher in at least two classes before the class previously certified, following construction, reconstruction, alteration, expansion or conservation works. The same benefit extends to urban buildings that take advantage of treated wastewater or rainwater.
