The government reported that only 22 of the 308 municipalities exacerbate IMI for vacant buildings. The information was put forward by the Government, after a question asked by Maria Manuel Rola and Mariana Mortágua.

The Block asked the Government if the operation of the Municipal Property Tax (IMI) depended directly on the availability of the taxable persons who own all the buildings, by the Tax and Customs Authority. This rule, said Maria Manuel Rola and Mariana Mortágua, "provides for the legal possibility of raising the rate applicable to urban buildings degraded by 30%, a measure that allows municipalities to promote urban rehabilitation objectives."
