At the end of the year and a half with the new law in force, about 19 thousand families saw their first home safe from sale by the treasury.

According to figures released on Wednesday by Diário de Notícias, based on a source from the Ministry of Finance, since the beginning of the year, sales of some 7,500 properties pawned by the tax authorities for taxpayers' debts have been suspended.
