The old college complex was purchased from the University of Porto by the Real Douro, which is part of the Ferreira group and prefers a housing project rather than a new hotel. The transaction is stirring the political waters in the city.

The real estate developer and manager who bought the old college Almeida Garrett at the University of Porto, for a value of 6.1 million euros, belongs to the Ferreira group, led by the businessman Gaspar Ferreira, who works mainly in the area of engineering and of construction and that has Ferreira Build Power as the main arm of the business.
