"One fine day a donkey fell into a deep pit and could not get out. The animal cried desperately for many hours while its owner thought about what to do.

Finally the peasant made a harsh and cruel decision; It came to the following conclusion: Since the donkey was very old and the pit was really dry, the well would need to be covered up anyway. So it was not worth the effort to get the donkey out of the well.
